Results of Fixing a Discolored Tooth
Many people have or have seen a discolored front tooth. Often as a result of trauma or prior dentistry, patients have a single front tooth that would benefit from cosmetic modification. The challenge is seamlessly matching the adjacent natural teeth and providing an invisible result. Tiff had a front tooth that had suffered from a traumatic event earlier in life. Once we showed Tiff results achieved in similar situations she was more than anxious to proceed with treatment. In this case the significant challenge was masking out the underlying dark tooth structure without creating an opaque crown. Our goal was to hide the dark tooth structure while still providing a translucent, lifelike restoration. We utilized an Avante feldspathic crown to achieve an optimal result for Tiff. The unique properties of this material allow us to mask underlying disolorations without sacrificing the lifelike beauty of our result.
