Many of the therapies we provide are not purely cosmetic in nature. Oftentimes, we are principally concerned with restoring function. It may be as simple as restoring someone’s bite to a more healthful position or, as in Brett’s situation, fixing a traumatic injury. Brett presented in our office after getting his face in the way of a baseball, resulting in a traumatic fracture of his left front tooth. In cases such as this, if we have the fragment and can get it to position properly, we are able to repair the fracture through bonding conservatively. These repairs are very durable and predictable and, most times, eliminate the need for more invasive therapies. The long-term prognosis for this tooth is excellent!
